USFA MEMBERSHIP
All participants who practice at Silverlake Fencing (club members, beginner class students, or guest fencers) are required to be members of the United States Fencing Association.
The USFA membership is required for insurance purposes.
** You are allowed 90 days upon signing the below to decide if fencing is for you. Afterward, a $29 Access Membership or other USFA membership required

Note: This allows a new fencer to try fencing at a USA Fencing Member Club for 3 months with full insurance coverage through the USA Fencing policy. Fencers MUST join USA Fencing after the 3-month trial membership has expired, if they wish to continue fencing.

WHAT TO EXPECT​​
This class is intended for those who've had no previous fencing experience.
Never fenced before? This is where to start!
This class acquaints new fencers with basic attack and defense techniques, footwork, lunges and etiquette & sportsmanship.

WHAT TO BRING​​
We provide all the necessary equipment: Mask, Glove, Jacket, Lamé and Foil.
Be sure however to wear athletic attire when attending: Sweatpants, shorts or tights. Athletic shoes or sneakers.

WHAT TO EXPECT​​

This class is for those who have already completed our Intro To Fencing class and are looking for beginner fencing training. Or experienced fencers just looking to brush up on fundamental skills.
*** Must have taken the Intro To Fencing class first or have some prior fencing experience.
Our Basics class introduces the core fundamentals of fencing, from footwork and lunges to blade accuracy, parry-ripostes, and mobility. Students also learn etiquette, rules, and flow of a bout including basic refereeing.
With an emphasis on drills and repetition, this class is ideal for both beginners, as well as experienced fencers looking to sharpen and reinforce their fundamentals.

The Intermediate Class is for those with basic fencing training already.
*** Students must have taken the Fencing Basics class for at least 6 months first or already have prior intermediate fencing experience. Please check with us first before enrolling.
Our Intermediate class is for students with a strong grasp of the basics who are ready to elevate their fencing.
Training emphasizes advanced blade drills, strategic thinking, and refined techniques, including compound attacks, specialized parries, second- and third-intention actions, counterattacks, transition fencing, and advanced footwork.
This class develops the tactical awareness and precision needed to compete and progress with confidence.

This Mixed Basics/Intermediate Class is for both beginner and intermediate fencers.
*** Students must have at least taken the Intro To Fencing class first or have some prior fencing experience.
This class blends the structure of our Basics and Intermediate levels, making it ideal for students who want to reinforce fundamentals, while also exploring more advanced techniques.
Training covers essential footwork, blade accuracy, parry-ripostes, and mobility, alongside expanded skills such as compound attacks, specialized parries, counterattacks, and advanced footwork.
With a mix of drilling and tactical development, this hybrid class supports both newer fencers building confidence and experienced fencers sharpening their game.
