USFA Membership

All participants who practice at Silverlake Fencing (club members, beginner class students, or guest fencers) are required to be members of the United States Fencing Association. The USFA membership is required for insurance purposes.

 

** You are allowed 90 days upon signing the below to decide if fencing is for you. Afterward, a $29 Access Membership or other USFA membership required

>>  Students must wear proper clothing: long & stretchable pants, t-shirt, and sneakers. Please do NOT wear makeup/foundation that will rub off inside the fencing masks. & Remember to bring a water bottle! <<

​The membership year coincides with the fencing season, which occurs between August 1 and the following July 31. JOIN HERE!

This class introduces footwork, conditioning, basic techniques, and skills, bouting tactics, etiquette, and sportsmanship. Students will also dive into point practice and blade drills. We provide all the necessary equipment.

Studio A - Front Studio

 

Kids Competitive Training class is for foil students ages 14-18 who wish to focus on competing in foil fencing. It is for students who have a good understanding of basic movements, and are ready for a higher level of footwork, technical skills, and bouting tactics. Students of any level may join the competitive class, but prior fencing experience and/or a consultation with the instructor is recommended.  Classes include physical training drills, fencing technique, and bouting, as well as lessons in competitive strategy and etiquette.

 

Students must have permission from Coach Karolyn to take this class. They might also want to think about buying their own equipment. Glove and mask are recommended!

Beginner Foil Classes: Adults

Ages: Adults All Ages! 

(Must be 16+)

MUST SIGN UP AHEAD OF TIME VIA THE SCHEDULE TAB.

Sundays: 11am-12pm (Must secure your spot by signing up online!)

Update: Class will be postponed if over 90 degrees

Please sign up for this class more than 24 hours ahead of time. Spots are limited.

This class is intended for those who have no previous fencing training. This class introduces footwork, conditioning, basic techniques, and skills, bouting tactics, etiquette, and sportsmanship. Students will also dive into point practice and blade drills.

 

We provide all the necessary equipment and antibacterial wipes. If you'd prefer to buy a mask and glove, please do so online before visiting.

 

Students should also take this class at least 1-3 times before joining the Intermediate Mixed Level Class

Intermediate Foil Classes: Adults

Ages: Adults (all ages! 16yrs+) 

MUST SIGN UP AHEAD OF TIME. MUST have taken the beginner class first or have prior fencing experience.

Wednesdays: 7:30pm - 8:30pm (Coach Victor)

Sundays: 10:00am - 11:00am (Coach Karolyn)

The Mixed Level class is for those with basic fencing training. It is for students who have a good understanding of basic movements, and are ready for a higher level of footwork, technical skills, and bouting tactics. The next step of the course is to perfect your skills through blade drills and to start dueling.

 

They might also want to think about buying their own equipment. Glove and mask are highly recommended! 

 

Private Lessons - Currently on hold!

One on One Private Lesson for all ages

One-on-one lessons, designed to allow maximum fencing progress and schedule flexibility.

MUST call or email ahead of time to schedule an appointment! Approx. at least 1-2 weeks in advance. Availability is limited.

CANCELATION POLICY: Must cancel 48 hours ahead of time. If canceled less then 48-25 hours it is a $30 cancelation fee for the space rental. If canceled less then 24 hours before the appointment, the full  amount is required.

 

For Open Fencing Days Only

 

Open Fencing: $18 - Grab a buddy and come fence foil on our strip. Previous experience is required! 

Please keep an eye out for Open Fencing on our schedule!
